Gateway Head Start and National Nonprofit DonorsChoose Announce New Partnership
Gateway Community Action Partnership’s Early Head Start/Head Start program announced today a new partnership with the national nonprofit DonorsChoose to help teachers tap into a network of 4 million donors to support classroom projects and more seamlessly align with district strategy and operations.
Teachers in Gateway EHS/Head Start have raised $100K and completed over 190 projects on DonorsChoose. These projects vary from books to laptops and other tools to enhance the learning environment and support student success.
“Gateway Head Start is excited to announce a partnership with DonorsChoose” said Bonnie Eggenburg, Gateway’s Vice President/Head Start. “Teachers have dreams for their students. The dream to proudly graduate from college someday, the dream to raise up a student to make a difference in the world, the dream to be someone who is kind, who sees the world can be a better place. Sometimes teachers don’t always have the tools, supplies, or financial support to implement their ideas to support those dreams. Thanks to DonorsChoose, the Gateway Head Start teachers have been given that opportunity to dream big and watch their children succeed.”
As one of the 180+ members of the DonorsChoose District Partnership Program, Gateway Community Action Partnership Head Start will be able to fully support teachers in the use of the platform, ensure safety and security, and align efforts with the district’s strategic priorities. Gateway Head Start will be able to monitor all donated materials, staff will be notified each time a project is funded, and receive early notification when there are new “match” funding opportunities.
“We're excited to have Gateway Head Start as a new member of the DonorsChoose District Partnership Program,” said Charles Best, founder and CEO of DonorsChoose. “Gateway Head Start teachers and administrators continue to work hard to make sure students succeed, so far they’ve raised $100K towards learning materials from donors across the country. We can't wait to see how the DonorsChoose community can support these educators even more through our partnership.”
