Gateway Head Start reopens three Atlantic County centers

Gateway Community Action Partnership’s Head Start program has reopened three Atlantic County centers that had closed for cleaning and sanitizing due to recent COVID-19 concerns. The three centers: Gateway Head Start Early Head Start Center (GHSEEC) in Atlantic City, Linwood Head Start, and Spruce Avenue/Egg Harbor, reopened this week.

Gateway CAP opens Wellness Center

Gateway Community Action Partnership has opened a Wellness Center at 110 Cohansey St., Bridgeton, to better assist those negatively impacted by the difficult and unsettled times currently facing the region. The center’s trained clinicians will offer free counseling and support services to income eligible individuals and families that include: in-person sessions, telehealth (both phone and video) and in-person support groups for adults and adolescents.

Gateway Community Action Partnership’s Head Start program has closed three Atlantic County centers in an abundance of caution due to recent COVID-19 concerns. The three centers: Gateway Head Start Early Head Start Center (GHSEEC) in Atlantic City, Linwood Head Start, and Spruce Avenue/Egg Harbor, will remain closed for in-person services until October 13 & 14 for deep cleaning and sanitizing. Census 2020 activities planned To ensure a full, accurate count

Gateway Community Action Partnership, in conjunction with area Complete Count committees and other interested partners, is continuing to hold outreach events in advance of the September 30 Census 2020 deadline. Cumberland County Census 2020 outreach will be part of the September 12 Mexican Independence Day Celebration on the Bridgeton Riverfront from 1 to 7 p.m. Cumberland County’s mobile response van will join Gateway outreach workers to help people complete their census forms.

Greater Bridgeton Family Success Center Announces new hours of operation

The Greater Bridgeton Area Family Success Center, 155 Spruce St., in its continued effort to make essential services available to individuals and families, has extended hours of operations. Center hours are as follows: Monday 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., Tuesday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Wednesday 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m., Thursday 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and every other Saturday 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Gateway offices, sites to resume Traditional hours of operation June 15

Gateway Community Action Partnership offices and sites will reopen on Monday, June 15 and resume normal daily hours of operation, Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Agency services will be available at agency sites throughout the coverage area. Client intake for program services will be limited to comply with safe social distancing protocols and all employees, clients, guests, etc. will be required to wear a protective face mask inside agency facilities at all times. Please note: the WIC program will continue to provide phone certifications and will not be serving clients in person, until further notice. Gateway Reduces Office Hours, Staffing. Head Start Centers Closed through March 31

For the safety of our children, families and employees during the continuing COVID-19 (coronavirus) situation, Gateway Community Action Partnership offices, outreach centers and facilities will be closed on Mondays and Fridays beginning Friday, March 20 with employees working from home to abide by social distancing protocols on those days.

Gateway College Tour 2020 cancelled

Gateway Community Action Partnership’s College Tour 2020 scheduled for April 13-19 has been cancelled in response to the safety concerns regarding COVID-19. Refunds will be provided by mail to students who signed up for the trip. Gateway to hold tutor training session

Gateway Community Action Partnership’s Literacy Services Department will conduct a Literacy Volunteers tutor training session in Bridgeton beginning March 25. Pre-registration is required. Trained tutors will work one-on-one with adult learners who need help reading, writing, or speaking English. The training course will be held Wednesday afternoons from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. at Gateway Community Action Partnership, 110 Cohansey Street, Bridgeton. Class dates are March 25, April 1, 8, 15 and 22.
