Request for Proposals Basketball Rack System Installation Gateway Community Action Partnership

Gateway Community Action Partnership has partnered with the City of Bridgeton to update the basketball courts located at 155 Spruce Street in Bridgeton. Selected contractor will purchase and install four (4) basketball systems for two (2) basketball courts. Contractor will contract directly with the City of Bridgeton upon award. Suggested system: Gooseneck with 3’ or 4’ offset.

Gateway Community Action Partnership operates the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants & Children (WIC) in Atlantic, Camden, Cape May, Cumberland and Salem counties. The program provides supplemental foods, nutrition education, lactation support, immunization education and health care referrals to income-eligible pregnant women, new mothers, infants and children up to age 5. Gateway to hold tutor training sessions

Gateway Community Action Partnership’s Literacy Services Department will conduct two online Literacy Volunteers tutor training sessions beginning in October. Pre-registration is required. Trained tutors will work one-on-one with adult learners who need help reading, writing, or speaking English.

Head Start families to be “hands on” with Barn Studio in Millville

Children from Gateway Community Action Partnership’s Head Start programs and their families will take part in a virtual “hands on” pottery experience with The Barn Studio of Art, 814 Whitaker Ave., Millville this winter. Barn Studio activities for Gateway’s centers includes 184 children from Cumberland County Head Start centers from November 1, 2022 through January 31, 2023. Children in the River’s Edge Head Start and Cheryl Chadwick Early Learning Center in Bridgeton, as well as students at the Vineland II and Vineland III Head Start centers will participate. Children will enjoy a hands-on clay arts experience and a gallery showing and creative art experience as part of the program.

Gateway WIC serves more than 21,000 clients annually through flexible hours through its ten (10) offices. However, due to the COVID19 pandemic, staff will certify participants over the phone and mail them their WIC Vouchers. WIC is an equal opportunity employer and provider. Gateway Head Start and National Nonprofit DonorsChoose Announce New Partnership

Gateway Community Action Partnership’s Early Head Start/Head Start program announced today a new partnership with the national nonprofit DonorsChoose to help teachers tap into a network of 4 million donors to support classroom projects and more seamlessly align with district strategy and operations. Teachers in Gateway EHS/Head Start have raised $100K and completed over 190 projects on DonorsChoose. These projects vary from books to laptops and other tools to enhance the learning environment and support student success. (Click for more info)

Public Participation Sought in Survey to Expand NJ SNAP

In an effort to expand participation in NJ SNAP, Hunger Free NJ is circulating a survey to learn more about the barriers to enrollment. We will be publishing the results in a report that will include actionable steps the state can take to improve SNAP participation, which currently reaches just 75 percent of very low-income residents who would likely qualify.

Gateway offices, sites to resume Traditional hours of operation June 15

Gateway Community Action Partnership offices and sites will reopen on Monday, June 15 and resume normal daily hours of operation, Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Agency services will be available at agency sites throughout the coverage area. Client intake for program services will be limited to comply with safe social distancing protocols and all employees, clients, guests, etc. will be required to wear a protective face mask inside agency facilities at all times. Please note: the WIC program will continue to provide phone certifications and will not be serving clients in person, until further notice.
